Indicator 3.4.2 - Suicide mortality rate
Data for Indicator 3.4.2 depicts the suicide mortality rate per 100,000 people in the San Diego region compared to the United Nations target of 8.33. 
As shown in the cards below, the overall rate remained stable between 2015 and 2017.
In comparing data across age groups, rates among individuals in the two oldest age groups are consistently the highest. Rates for youth 14 years old and younger are not shown because of low numbers. Male suicide rates in the region are twice as high as female suicide rates.
The map below depicts the suicide mortality rate per 100,000 people by HHSA Region. Counts are too small to map at more granular geographic levels.
Data regarding suicide mortality is compiled by the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.
