Goal Twelve: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
The
San Diego region enjoys a high quality of life, although challenges still remain. SANDAG's 2021 Regional Plan seeks to improve the way we all move throughout the region while seeking to ensure that we can all lead healthy lives.
Target 12.3
By 2030, halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses.

(a) Food loss index and (b) food waste index.
Target 12.5
By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse.

Local recycling rate, tons of material recycled, by local agency.

Support all entities in the San Diego region to strengthen their scientific and technological capacity to move toward more sustainable patterns of consumption and production.
