SDG Indicator 13.2.2

Indicator 13.2.2: Total greenhouse gas emissions per year.
Data for Indicator 13.2.2 comes from SANDAG's ReCAP (Regional Climate Action Planning Framework) and 2021 Regional Plan. As the City of San Diego and Coronado do not participate in the ReCap program, their greenhouse gas emissions are not represented on this page.
All numbers on this page have the unit of Metric Tons of CO2e. This unit effectively captures the global warming impact of all greenhouse gases proportional to the amount of warming each gas does. For example, Methane (CH4) is 25 times more warming than CO2, so emissions of 100 Tons CH4 is equivalent to 100 x 25 = 2,500 Tons CO2e.
Note: Passenger Cars and Light-Duty (No SAFE Rule Impact) refers to the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient (SAFE) Vehicles Rule, issued by NHTSA and EPA. These rules set tough but feasible fuel economy and carbon dioxide standards that increase 1.5% in stringency each year from model years 2021 through 2026. "No SAFE Rule Impact" indicates that the forecast model does not include the impact of the SAFE Rule.
