SDG Indicator 14.5.1

Indicator 14.5.1: Coverage of protected areas in relation to marine areas.

Indicator 14.5.1 shows the percentage of San Diego regional coastlines with and without bays which are covered by an MPA (marine protected area). Data for this indicator comes from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Marine Protected Areas Inventory 2020 update. Coastlines without bays are used as our primary form of metric.
